ZAK GARMENTECH MUMBAI 2006
With success written all over the fair!
With a
robust turnout of 7,000 visitors in four days, the
4th
edition of ZAK Garmentech Mumbai 2006, held at Bombay Exhibition
centre (Goregaon), between 16th-19th
November, was an event of paramount success. This exponential
accomplishment has cemented the position of ZAK Garmentech, as
the premier Apparel Technology Trade Show of Western India.
The
7,000 visitors who participated from all parts of Western India
included some from Northern India. The participants comprised of
decision makers, senior management personnel, along with
technical personnel. It was also noticeable that large number of
tailors, retailers wanting to get into apparel manufacturing and
boutique owners visited the show. Another segment which was
significant was the ethnic embroidery manufacturers and
embroiderers who had turned out in large number to see the
computerized multi-head embroidery machines.
CMAI
PRESIDENT URGES CONSOLIDATION OF TRADESHOWS
The
show had nearly 100 participants from India and abroad. Speaking
at the inaugural function Mr.
Premal Udani, President, The Clothing Manufacturers’ Association
of India (CMAI),
mentioned that, “The apparel industry has made tremendous
progress in the first year after quota growing nearly 40
percent. The domestic market has also increased in size and is
becoming organized, thus increasing the need for new technology
and machinery.” He mentioned about the Asian Apparel Federation
in which apparel industry in 17 Asian have come together to
address their concerns and issues.
Speaking about the event, Syed Zakir Ahmed, Managing Director,
ZAK Tradeshows & Exhibitions Pvt Ltd, the organizers of the
event, said “As the show was held after a gap of two years the
response to the show has been highly encouraging, with over 100
companies confirming participation at the show including leading
players. In all nearly 300 different brands of machines were
displayed at the show. Some new companies in the area of
finishing, laundry, IT solutions to the apparel industry also
participated for the first time, along with some companies from
China.”
The participants
had displayed a wide range of collections displaying their
innovations in the categories like T-shirts, pullovers,
cardigans, dresses, hooded t-shirts, shorts, ensembles, blouses,
washed-look garments, apart from an extensive collection of
cotton blended garments for men, women, children and babies.
Speaking at the
inaugural function of the 22nd India Knit Fair, Mr. A. Shaktivel,
President, Tirupur Exporters’ Association said, Tirupur, which
had exported just Rs. 15 crore worth in 1985, crossed the Rs
8,500 crore figure the last financial year. This was nearly 62
per cent of the total knitwear exports of India at present. Mr
S. V. Gupta, Deputy Managing Director, State Bank of India, who
inaugurated the fair said: “Tirupur, which is already the
knitwear capital, would soon become a global centre of
excellence.”

Knitting
trends and trade with threads of modernization, the 23rd
India Knit Fair at which was organized between 11 - 13th
Oct., at Tirupur was a successful affair.
The 23rd India knit Fair
was inaugurated by Shri Vijay K Agarwal,
Chairman, and Apparel Export Promotion Council (AEPC). This
event is organized in the Knit City by Apparel Export Promotion
Council, and sponsored by the Ministry of Textiles, Government
of India in collaboration with Tirupur Exporters’ Association
under the umbrella of India Knit Fair Association (IKFA).
Initiated with the objective of exposing the
competency of Indian knitwear exporters’ to the world, and to
act as a podium for both the Indian and International buyers to
interact with each other under a common umbrella, the 23rd
edition of the fair stood to the purpose,
as
78 buyers and 105 buying houses/agents
from USA, UK, UAE, Japan, Canada, France, Germany, Malaysia,
Singapore, Australia, Spain, Italy, Omen, Korea etc. visited the
event.

Intertextile
Shanghai which is one of the leading apparel fairs in Asia
recorded an unprecedented number of exhibitors and visitors.
Over 52,000 visitors from 97 countries marked their presence at
this edition of the fair, making it one of the biggest apparel
fabric fairs in the world. Approximately 2.033 exhibitors
attended the event, a 33% increase from 2005. The number of
quality customers that exhibitors met at the show have
encouraged may of the regular exhibitors and also first time
exhibitors to return for the 2007 edition of the fair.
Visitor attendance
at the fair increased by 16% compared to last year. On display
at the fair was an enormous array of cotton, wool, silk, linen
and ramie, man-made, knitted and coated materials. Lingerie and
swimwear fabrics, functional fabrics, prints, fabrics and yarns,
embroidery and lace were also on display. Also participating in
the exhibition were a number of fabric accessories companies.
